ThinkFeel Lab
Helping children understand their thoughts, feelings, and bodies, one skill at a time.
The ThinkFeel Lab helps children ages 8 to 12 build emotional skills by learning how their thoughts, feelings, and bodies work together. Through simple, age-appropriate lessons about the brain, nervous system, and emotions, our videos help kids calm their bodies, work with their thoughts, and navigate their feelings with more confidence and care.
All videos are created using well-researched, evidence-based practices drawn from psychology, neuroscience, and emotional regulation studies, and informed by the work of licensed psychologists and clinicians. The tools shared here are designed to be safe, healthy, and supportive for growing minds.
What We Teach:
1. Body Awareness & Regulation
2. Emotions & Feelings Literacy
3. Thoughts, Thinking, Learning

A Different Kind of Emotional Education
Most programs teach children how to handle their thoughts and feelings. ThinkFeel Lab teaches them how thoughts and feelings work, so the skills they build actually make sense to them.

We go deeper than coping strategies. Our videos explain how the brain and nervous system work, why the body responds the way it does, and how thoughts form and shape experience, all in language that children ages 8 to 12 can actually understand.

When a child knows why their heart races before a presentation, why their brain jumps to worst-case scenarios, or why a feeling can feel so big and then slowly fade, they stop feeling confused or broken by their inner world. They start feeling capable of working with it.

Understanding isn't just a stepping stone to skill-building. It is the core of the skill.
Our Approach
Awareness
We begin with awareness. Children are already experiencing complex thoughts and emotions. What they often lack is language and structured support. We teach them how to notice what is happening inside before trying to change it.
Research-Based
All lessons are grounded in established research from psychology, neuroscience, and social-emotional learning. Concepts are translated into child-friendly language without losing depth.
Skill-Building
From there, children practice and build more advanced skills, navigating shame, perfectionism, comparison, fear, relationship repair, and critical thinking.
The ThinkFeel Lab is intentionally designed for children ages 8–12, a stage when important developmental shifts are already underway.
Why Ages 8–12?
Around age 8, children begin developing stronger metacognitive skills, meaning they can start noticing their thoughts and feelings rather than being fully swept up in them.

By age 10, abstract thinking is strengthening. Children can explore ideas like fairness, comparison, and flexible thinking with more depth.

By age 12, identity, belonging, and social awareness become more central. Questions about self-worth and comparison often intensify during this stage.

These years are a powerful window for building emotional awareness, regulation skills, and healthy thinking patterns before adolescence deepens those experiences.

While ThinkFeel Lab is designed with ages 8–12 in mind, emotional skills are not limited by age. Older children and teens who have not yet learned these foundations can also benefit. Emotional literacy and regulation are lifelong skills, and it is never too early or too late to build them.

Our Structure
ThinkFeel Lab begins with two foundational toolkits:
Toolkit 1: Understanding Feelings
Children learn how to name emotions, find them in the body, stay with them safely, and understand that feelings move.
Toolkit 2: Understanding Thoughts
Children learn that thoughts are not facts, how to check their thoughts against reality, and how to create more balanced, helpful thinking.

These foundational videos teach the core skills needed to understand and work with both feelings and thoughts.

After completing the foundations, children can explore topic-based videos depending on what they need in the moment — anxiety, confidence, anger, belonging, and more.

ThinkFeel Lab is designed to be both structured and flexible: Start with the foundations. Then, explore what matters most right now.
For Teachers and Therapists
ThinkFeel Lab videos and guides are designed to be foundational but flexible.
Each video is 5–7 minutes long, making it easy to integrate into:

Why This Approach Works

Research in psychology and neuroscience shows that children benefit most when they first understand how their minds and bodies work before being asked to regulate them.
ThinkFeel Lab teaches:
-
Awareness before correction
-
Regulation without shame
-
Cognitive flexibility instead of forced positivity
-
Nervous system safety before behavioral change
The goal is not to eliminate difficult emotions or thoughts. The goal is to help children build the skills to work with them.
